EPL BEST PLAYER wants Leeds United transfer now after new updates
Burnley attacker Manuel Benson is keen on joining Leeds United ahead of the 30 August deadline, according to HITC.
The online source reported [28 August] that the 27-year-old is open to a switch to Elland Road, with manager Scott Parker giving the green light for his exit.
It is understood that the Whites are leading the race to sign the forward this summer [HITC, 21 August], though Norwich City could attempt to hijack a deal to replace Jonathan Rowe [Ben Jacobs].
Leeds United to sign Manuel Benson as Burnley door opens?
Even with the signing of Largie Ramazani from Almeria and the loan deal for Tottenham’s Manor Solomon, Daniel Farke could still do with more attacking options.
The departures of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara have left Leeds lacking depth in multiple departments, especially when it comes to goals.
While Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James are more than capable of occupying the flanks, now reinforced by the two new signings, the attacking midfield role is still vacant.
Rutter notched six goals and 15 assists in the Championship last season, and following his £40million move to Brighton & Hove Albion [BBC Sport], few players can bring that kind of impact.
Leeds may have finally found a figure who could fill that void – Benson. While his 2023/24 campaign was disappointing, there is no doubt over the Angolan international’s ability on the pitch.
The winger was a key star for the Clarets during the 2022/23 season, notching 11 goals and three assists as Vincent Kompany led Burnley back to the Premier League, securing over 100 points.
Having only made eight appearances in England’s top division last term, a move to Elland Road could help him revitalise his career, and his openness to the move can only be a positive thing for the Whites.
In other Leeds United news, Ian Abrahams shared the name of the defender Leeds want to sign.
