WHY I’M I NOT PLAYING? Player Makes Bold Move Through Question After Ohio Loss

Quinn Ewers’ Message to Arch Manning After Ohio State Loss Revealed.

The Texas Longhorns may have had the biggest quarterback controversy that wasn’t actually a controversy in all of college football in 2024. Quinn Ewers was back for a third year with hopes of leading Texas to a title, winning a Heisman Trophy and boosting his draft stock. Arch Manning, on the other hand, hails from the most famous quarterback family in existence and is a former five-star as well. There was never a quarterback battle between the two, but when Ewers went down with an oblique injury, it gave Manning a path to the field. He shined as expected, but Texas rode with Ewers after he returned for the rest of the way.

Ewers’ career and Texas’ season ended in a College Football Playoff Semifinal loss to the eventual champion Ohio State Buckeyes. He declared for the NFL draft shortly after, which means it is officially Manning’s time to shine in Austin. While Ewers is no longer with the program, he did give Manning some advice following the team’s Cotton Bowl loss. Manning revealed what that advice was when talking with ESPN’s Marty Smith. “Kind of right after the Ohio State game I was with Quinn in the locker room,” Manning said. “He was just like ‘Enjoy every moment it goes by quickly. So love on your teammates and have fun.'”

Both Ewers and Manning are preparing for new journeys now that the season is over. Ewers is in the process of preparing for the 2025 NFL draft, while Manning is taking over at one of the most historic programs in college football. Manning may have pressure on him, but the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning appears to be more than ready for the chance. The former five-star out of New Orleans threw for over 900 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while also rushing for four scores.
