Indie rock icon PJ Harvey is coming to Massachusetts for the first time in seven years.
The renowned musician will perform at MGM Music Hall in Boston on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
This is Harvey’s first North American tour in seven years, with her last tour being in 2017. The tour comes after Harvey’s sold-out U.K. and European headlining tour last year, according to a post on the artist’s Instagram.
Harvey told Vulture last September that she felt, “excited and ready and confident that the show is a strong one.”
Harvey will be performing songs across her three-decade-long career from hits of the 1990s to last year’s Grammy Award-nominated album “I Inside the Old Year Dying.”
“I think it’ll be a really comprehensive show for all ages of PJ Harvey fans,” the 54-year-old told Vulture. “It’s been a great joy actually to play some of those earlier songs. I haven’t played many of them live for years. So I think it’s gonna be a special show for that reason as well.”
A multi-instrumentalist especially known as a vocalist, guitarist and pianist, Harvey’s catalog features 10 studio albums. Three of her projects — “Rid of Me” (1993), “To Bring You My Love” (1995), and “Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea” (2000) — appear on Rolling Stone’s list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
The English singer is also is the only artist to have won the U.K.’s prestigious Mercury Prize twice — once in 2001 and once in 2011. Harvey possesses eight Grammy nominations and eight Brit Award nominations as well.
