NASCAR Team President Departing for Position with New Cadillac F1 Team
According to AP News, Spire Motorsports president Doug Duchardt is moving to TWG Group to become their Chief Performance Officer of Motorsports. Duchardt’s background makes him a strong addition to TWG, having served in prominent roles at General Motors. TWG, a multifaceted organization involved in various motorsport disciplines, has partnered with GM to launch the Cadillac Formula One team. By 2026, TWG Group plans to be competing in NASCAR through its connection with Spire Motorsports, IndyCar through its handling of former Andretti properties, IMSA via Wayne Taylor Racing, and Formula One with Cadillac
Spire Motorsports itself is undergoing restructuring to accommodate Duchardt’s departure. Bill Anthony, Spire’s Executive Vice President, and Todd Mackin, the current president of Spire Holdings, are poised to take over Duchardt’s responsibilities, ensuring a seamless continuation of operations at the organization.
Despite these changes, Jeff Dickerson will remain with Spire, contributing to the organization’s stability during this transitional phase. Official statements regarding these changes in leadership are expected to come next week.

With drivers like Justin Haley, Michael McDowell, and Carson Hocevar joining the ranks, Spire Motorsports is making marked improvements in its talent pool. This also comes after the team announced last week that former RFK Racing crew chief Matt McCall has been named Director of Vehicle Performance and Dax Gerringer has been appointed Technical Director. Co-owner Jeff Dickerson commented on the new additions, as previously reported by Newsweek Sport
This is a great addition for our team and one that means a lot to me, personally. Matt is a longtime friend, one of my first handful of NASCAR clients I had when I was a young agent, and we’ve always shared the same view of how race cars work and race teams operate. “I’m happy the stars finally aligned for us to work together, and I look forward to adding him to an already impressive group for 2025.” McCall also explained: “I am really excited and grateful for this opportunity. Spire Motorsports’ upward trajectory has been impressive and I look forward to becoming part of the success. I’ve had a long relationship with (Jeff) Dickerson and I’ve known him for close to 25 years.
oing driver representation, and I was trying to carve out a career as a driver. We built a great relationship and have always stayed in communication. The way things panned out, there was an opportunity to come to Spire. We always wanted to work together, and the timing was right. That was a big part of my decision. Knowing what’s being built here and what the future looks like is exciting.”
