Connor Zilisch Opens Up On Horrific NASCAR Crash At Talladega

18-year-old Connor Zilisch has opened up on his horrific crash during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday. Whilst speaking with FOX Sports reporter Bob Pockrass after the race, Zilisch opened up on the scary crash which took place during the Love’s RV Stop 225 race. The crash was a result of a hard collision with fellow racer Nick Sanchez from Rev Racing. Both drivers were positioned in the top lane when the incident triggered the first caution of Stage 2, pulling in other drivers like Chase Purdy and Ben Rhodes into the fray.

Zilisch commented (below): “It was a hard hit but I was expecting to feel more than I did. I didn’t feel anything

Currently a development driver for Trackhouse Racing, Zilisch juggles commitments across several racing platforms. He competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Spire Motorsports, the ARCA Menards Series for the Pinnacle Racing Group, as well as in the Trans-Am Series and IMSA SportsCar Championship

Reflecting on the race, Zilisch remarked: “My first speedway race… just trying to learn as much as I could while I was out there, but frustrating how it ended. “Still learned a lot and feel pretty confident going into next year… showing up at Daytona in my first Xfinity race for the full-time season.”

In addition to his dedication to NASCAR, Zilisch is also preparing for an exciting return to the Trans-Am Series. Scheduled to compete in the TA2 category at Virginia International Raceway, Zilisch added: “Obviously, VIR is special to me because that’s where it all started for me with Silver Hare Racing. “I had my first test with them back in 2021. Then going there and winning in the TA2 race last year and winning the TA race on the same weekend, becoming the first person to sweep a weekend, it makes it a special track for me and one that I really enjoy, too.”
