SAD NEWS: An Attempted Murder On Reading FC ‘Dai Yongge – Who Could Be Behind This?

Former Wycombe Wanderers owner Rob Couhig is ‘very close’ to a takeover of Reading Football Club, according to national reports.

The 75-year-old American had a four-year spell in charge of the Chairboys, taking them into the Championship for the first time in their history.

Stepping down as owner and chairman over the summer, it has been a long process to get to the final stages of a Royals buyout.

Chinese businessman Dai Yongge put the club up for sale 10 months ago and a sale, despite coming close on occasions, looks to be as close as it ever has been.

The Telegraph have reported that “representatives from Couhig’s party were at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Monday with the transaction now in its final stages.”

In addition, their ‘sources are cautiously predicting that a sale could be finalised within the next fortnight.’

The Reading Chronicle understands that Couhig himself has been in the town in recent weeks, having made multiple trips to both the Bearwood training facility and the SCL Stadium.

While there is undoubted relief at Yongge’s reign seemingly coming close to an end, there will be some scepticism around Couhig due to the attempt to purchase Bearwood for Wycombe in March.

Leading to protests outside Adams Park, the lawyer and former sports club owner criticised Royals supporters heavily in the aftermath.
