Coventry City faces criticism as Doug King is targeted by booing fans at Watford.

Coventry City match reaction from CoventryLive as Sky Blues supporters respond to fellow fans taking their frustrations out on club owner Doug King at Watford

Coventry City supporters say they are “disgusted” and “embarrassed” after fellow fans directed their frustrations at club owner Doug King during Saturday’s match at Watford.

The businessman has been the man with the Midas touch since taking over from the widely despised previous owners, Sisu, helping manager Mark Robins rebuild the Sky Blues squad with 17 new players in the last three transfer windows following big money sales, while also transforming the club’s Ryton training ground into a top class facility and paying for improvements at the CBS Arena to ensure the stadium feels like home.

King’s ambition for success has also seen him provide the manager with an increased backroom, medical and sport science support staff and equipment, while on-pitch success has seen City get to the Championship play-off final and semi-final of the FA Cup in successive seasons – achievements which have raised the club’s stock and put it back on the map after years in the doldrums.

A number of recent decisions, however, have resulted in the executive chairman being criticised by some, most notably for heavy ticket pricing for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie with Tottenham and the fact the club didn’t bring in more reinforcements on transfer deadline day and, more latterly, in the free agent market when the club were linked with former loan man Matty James.
