HERE WE GO! Newcastle United launch £65m double Rangers transfer raid, medical booked – Fabrizio Romano

Rangers are primed for a pivotal summer as Russell Martin aims to stamp his mark at Ibrox.

The former Southampton manager can now make some key decisions, having been announced in Glasgow by the new American owners.

Rangers set to lose future star to Newcastle United

Rangers and Martin have significant work ahead if they are to close the gap between them and Scottish champions Celtic.

The Gers ended the season 17 points behind their old foes and have only won the league title once since 2011.

Martin is the man tasked with spawning a revival at Ibrox in what will be the biggest job in his budding managerial career.

He must get to know his new squad quickly, as he will be expected to aid the decision-making process within the Ibrox club.

One decision that may be out of his hands is the future of teenage sensation Alfie Hutchinson, who is attracting interest from Newcastle, according to Mark Hendry (7 June).

Goodbrand has shown his goalscoring nous on the international stage

The football journalist states that Eddie Howe’s side are hopeful of landing the 16-year-old, while one of his teammates is already on his way.

Oliver Goodbrand is said to be heading to Newcastle to undergo a medical before completing a move to the Premier League outfit.

When his move to Tyneside is completed, the left-back will join the North East side’s academy.

Who is Newcastle-bound teenager Oliver Goodbrand?

While not many in the North East of England will know of Goodbrand, Newcastle and Howe are clearly planning for the future amid his signing.

The 16-year-old made his debut for the Rangers B team under the stewardship of Stephen Smith at just 15 years young.

Goodbrand’s talent has not gone unnoticed, with the teenager making appearances for Scotland at under-17 and under-16 levels.

The full-back has shown threat down the left-hand side, with his dribbling ability and goal threat evident from his early performances.

Evidently, the Magpies think they have found a future gem, but only in time will Rangers know their loss, which could be doubled fairly soon.
