Fabrizio Romano: Aston Villa ‘In Talks’ Over Deal to Sign ‘Outstanding’ Striker
Aston Villa could be set to win the race for one of Europe’s best young prospects in the summer transfer window, according to reports – with the west Midlands outfit thought to be ‘leading the race’ to sign Feyenoord youngster Zepiqueno Redmond over the coming months.
Villa have been known to undergo significant turnovers in previous transfer windows, having seen Jhon Duran, Diego Carlos and Jaden Philogene depart in January, whilst Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio, Axel Disasi and Donyell Malen all joined the club – and that may not stop in the coming months, with a move for Redmond being lined up after his breakthrough into Feyenoord’s first-team earlier this season.

Redmond is a striker with ‘important potential’, according to Romano, and although he claims there are clubs in both the UK and Italy that are keen on his services, the youngster is set to make his final decision soon. Villa are leading the race, and they’re in a good position to sign the ‘outstanding’ Rotterdam-born star, who is set to turn 19 next month.
Redmond joined Feyenoord’s youth academy in 2019, at the age of 13, signing his first professional deal in June 2022, just days before his 16th birthday. After joining training with the first-team earlier this season thanks to an injury crisis, he made his debut in early November, starting in a 4-1 win over Eredivisie strugglers Almere City – and he later grabbed his first two goals for the club in the Dutch Cup against second-tier side MVV Maastricht just a month later.
Two Champions League appearances, four Eredivisie outings – including two starts – and three further showings in the domestic cup have shown that Redmond is valued by his hometown club, but a move to Villa could open endless opportunities if he can thrive in the Premier League, especially with the Villans having qualified for some form of European football this season.
