ESPN: USC Lands 4-Star Quarterback From SEC Powerhouse

USC football is attempting to flip a talented four-star quarterback for its 2026 class who’s already committed to Oregon. However, a Southeastern Conference powerhouse now lurks for Lincoln Riley and his staff. Ducks QB commit Jonas Williams visited USC during its Feb. 1 Junior Day and came out impressed by the Trojans. But LSU is attempting to enter the picture at this stage of Williams’ recruitment. Williams told On3’s Steve Wiltfong Monday that the Tigers are trying to get him back on campus for a visit in March. “LSU is always a powerhouse in the SEC. Even though they had a down year this year they were still a good team. I expect and they have big expectations coming into next year,” Williams told Wiltfong.

Turns out LSU nearly swiped away Williams before his commitment to Oregon in Aug. 2024. The Tigers were in the final running before the Lincoln-Way East High star from New Lenox, Ill. chose Oregon.

“It’s a great offense, great staff and they always got dogs on the team,” Williams said of LSU. The dual-threat QB cites Joe Sloan as the man running point on his recruitment to LSU. Sloan has recruited Williams since his freshman year of high school. “I think it’s just been growing and I can’t wait to see where it goes,” Williams told Wiltfong. It’s not officially known if Williams will take the trek out to Baton Rouge and visit head coach Brian Kelly, Sloan and company. But this now means USC and the QB guru Riley have one more competition in the race to land the state of Illinois’ top-ranked prospect.
