DONE DEAL: Leyton Orient signs another prominent 24-years-old winger on a lasting three years deal

Leyton Orient sign Azeem Abdulai from Swansea City.

Midfielder Azeem Abdulai has signed for Leyton Orient from Swansea City on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract with the East London club.

A former Scotland youth international and Celtic academy graduate, Abdulai can play in both midfield and wide positions.

“I’m buzzing to join Leyton Orient at what feels like a really exciting time for the football club,” Abdulai said. “I want to take the next step in my career and I believe that this is the perfect place for me to do that.”

He becomes Orient’s second signing of the January transfer window, following Dilan Markanday’s loan move from Blackburn Rovers.

Head Coach Richie Wellens was excited about Abdulai’s potential.

“When you watch Azeem, he has got all of the tools to become a really, really good football player,” Wellens said.

“He has great athleticism, can run all day, see a pass, and get into the box. His raw all-round game is there for any coach to develop. I’m excited to have him on board.”

Abdulai made 17 appearances for Swansea in the Championship this season, scoring once. He also netted in the Swans’ Carabao Cup victory over Gillingham in August.
