ESPN Makes Major Nick Saban Announcement
Nick Saban and the ESPN “College GameDay” crew were covering a matchup between the Texas Longhorns and Ohio State Buckeyes, when the former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach received a major honor.
During the show, Pat McAfee presented Saban with an honorary football, revealing the news that the seven-time national champion has been inducted into the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame.
Alabama’s official social media account posted the news, with the message, “A Legacy of Excellence.”
“Thank you so much, but anytime something like this happens, it’s because you had a lot of great people in your organization,” Saban said. “A lot of great players, a lot of great coaches, a great support staff… I was happy to drive the bus, but we had some great people on it.”
Saban began his coaching career in 1973 as a graduate assistant at Kent State. After a couple of positional jobs at Syracuse, West Virginia, Ohio State, Michigan State, Navy, and a few stints in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins, he landed in Alabama.
During his time with the Crimson Tide, from 2007 to 2023, Saban led the program to six national titles and nine SEC titles.
He also won a national championship as well as two SEC titles during his time as the head coach of the LSU Tigers, from 2000 to 2004.
