BAMA BOOM: Alabama Secures 4-Star 2025 Recruit Justin Hills, Beating Out Ohio State, Oregon, and Tennessee for His Commitment to the Roll Tide Football Program.
The 13-chair committee’s final decision has since sparked many debates across college football circles, leaving many asking “Did the committee get it right?”
ESPN college football analyst, Paul Finebaum joined “First Take”Monday and gave his final verdict on if the College Football Playoff committee made a mistake by leaving Alabama out of the postseason in favor of SMU.
was a mistake, but I’ll say I understand where America is,” Finebaum said. “We all saw that feel good story on Saturday night, when this great bunch from SMU, on the verge of getting blown out and came all the way back and missed by a field goal so the country says they deserve it. Forget deserving, are they better than Alabama? No, they are not better than Alabama. SMU would probably have 5 or 6 losses if they plated in the SEC with Alabama or Georgia’s schedule. But in the end, and I’ll make this quick, Alabama did it to themselves. If Alabama had not been blown out by Oklahoma 24-3 a couple weeks ago, I think they would have found their way in. Ultimately, Alabama can blame the committee, but they outta look in the mirror.”
Alabama football now hopes to end its 2024 season on a high note as it prepares to face Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl at Raymond Stadium in Tampa Bay, FL on Dec.31.
