JUST IN: “Paul Finebaum Exposes the Playoff Committee’s Biggest Blunder!”
The 2024 College Football Playoff bracket is set, and for the first time, 12 teams will be participating in the CFP. However, as always, fans have had some complaints about the field, which led to Paul Finebaum admitting that the selection committee made one big mistake when it came to choosing these 12 teams. For the most part, folks knew which teams would make the cut, but their positioning was what was left to be decided. There was really only one spot that was a question mark, with the Alabama Crimson Tide and SMU Mustangs battling for it. In the end, SMU ended up making it, while Alabama got the short end of the stick, and it’s certainly been a divisive decision. When looking back at it, Finebaum believed that the CFP made a mistake choosing the Mustangs over the Crimson Tide, although there is a noteworthy catch
“It was a mistake, but, and I say but because I understand where America is, we all saw that feel-good story on Saturday night when this great bunch from SMU, on the verge of getting blown out, came all the way back and missed by a field goal, Finebaum said on “First Take.” “So the country said, ‘They deserve it.’ Forget deserving, are they better than Alabama? No, they are not Alabama.”
The criteria for the CFP is always tough to nail down, but in the eyes of some folks, a key factor in determining who makes it and who doesn’t make it was ignored in the Crimson Tide’s case. Regardless, nothing can be done to change things now. SMU will face off against Penn State in their first-round matchup, while Alabama will face off against the Michigan Wolverines in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
