NRL 2025: Manly Sea Eagles predicted team list, latest squad news for Round 1

Manly showcased real improvement during Anthony Seibold’s second term in charge as they climbed up the ladder from 12th spot in the previous campaign to 7th in 2024.

The Sea Eagles were a joy to watch at times as they clicked in attack and piled on the points through Tom Trbojevic, Reuben Garrick and Tommy Talau.

But inconsistency plagued their efforts as they were unable to string together a run of consecutive wins to claim a desired spot in the top-four.

Manly Sea Eagles 2025 season preview

Tom Trbojevic was at the centre of everything good that the Sea Eagles did last season as he battled through various injury complaints to make 20 appearances.

The rumours around a potential shift into the centres refuses to go away with Seibold admitting he would look at the alteration in the off-season, if it meant helping his talisman’s long-term future.

However, for the Sea Eagles to be legitimate premiership contenders Trbojevic will need to feature at fullback and help service a whole host of attacking weapons the club has across their backline.

A spine of ‘Turbo’, Luke Brooks and Daly Cherry-Evans is one of the best in the competition and should see them aiming for another progression in the standings in 2025.

Sea Eagles latest team news ahead of Round 1

Tom Trbojevic was touted for a move into the centres in order to prolong his career, but he is likely to start at fullback in 2025.

Jason Saab endured an injury-plagued campaign but will be back on the wing for the opening clash with Lehi Hopoate on the opposite flank.

Tommy Talau and Reuben Garrick are likely to form a centre partnership, with Tolutau Koula the unlucky man to miss out. Although the young gun should at least bag a place on the bench.

Luke Brooks and Daly Cherry-Evans will combine once again in the halves, with Jake Arthur to provide cover after returning from a foot injury which sidelined him for four months.

Lachlan Croker will take his place at hooker but will come under pressure from Gordon Chan Kum Tong.

Ben Trbojevic lost his place in the backrow to Karl Lawton at the end of last season but is set to regain his jersey following Lawton’s exit, while Michael Chee Kam will be pushing him hard for the spot.

Taniela Paseka and Josh Aloiai will be supported up front by the likes of Nathan Brown, Tof Sipley and Siosiua Taukeiaho, while there will also be a place on the pine for new signing Jazz Tevaga.

Matt Lodge has not been offered a new contract and will depart from the club.
