Just Done: Alabama football flips 4-star wide receiver’s commitment from LSU

Alabama football’s 2025 recruiting class got a boost on Wednesday, at the expense of one of its SEC rivals. Wide receiver Derek Meadows, who had been committed to LSU entering Wednesday’s beginning of the early signing period, flipped to Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide.

Meadows is a four-star prospect, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He plays his high school football at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas.

“Meadows is a jumbo receiver and one of the more intriguing players in the ‘25 class,” 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins wrote in his scouting report of the receiver. ” He has a rare combination of size, athleticism and body control and is only scratching the surface of how good we think he can be.’

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Meadows had been committed to LSU since July. The Tiger class has taken several hits recently, beginning with the news that five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood flipped to Michigan.

Meadows helps to ease the sting of Alabama’s class suffering a flip of its own. Five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham flipped his commitment from the Crimson Tide to Ole Miss in November.

He became the second wide receiver in Alabama’s 2025 class, joining Lotzier Brooks, who has not signed yet, but is committed to the Crimson Tide. Meadows is listed as the No. 17 receiver in the 2025 class, No. 119 player nationally, by the 247Sports composite.

The early signing period for the 2025 class began on Wednesday. It runs for three days, through Friday.
