Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library plans to reach more children across Fargo
The Fargo Rotary Club is working to expand the ‘Dolly Parton Imagination Library’ program beyond north Fargo, by bringing free books to more areas.
FARGO — A local club wants to inspire more children to read by giving away free books, but they need more enrollees.
The Fargo Rotary Club is partnering with the F-M Area Foundation to reintroduce the “Dolly Parton Imagination Library”in Fargo.
This program allows members to give away one free book a month to children until they’re 5 years old.
Right now, they’re only serving children in north Fargo with the zip code 58102. A total of 140 children are enrolled.
The hope is to enroll more children and then expand the program into other cities in the future.
They say they’ve already raised $20,000 to do just that.
“There are some kids that really could use some literacy help, really use some books in the home. Because when you have books in the home, it automatically creates a parent, caregiver child experience,” Travis Christopher, chair of the Imagination Library Committee, said.
