Boone and the High Country offer some of the best and widest variety of training terrain on the East Coast. The High Country is an integral part in numerous collegiate teams’ training and development programs, with teams coming from all over the country to compete and train.
The Don Kennedy trails offer more than four miles of trails and courses sitting along the New River. The course that both the Appalachian men and women’s cross country teams call home was named after Appalachian standout Don Kennedy.
The course is home to the yearly Covered Bridge Open, which draws numerous cross country programs to Boone for competition in addition to other meets.
