PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Some of the most historic artwork in the world can be seen in Pigeon Forge and you don’t have to travel to the Vatican City to see it.
WVLT’s Kyle Grainger was the first to go inside and see the new exhibit before a VIP tour on Wednesday afternoon.
Michelangelo’s art work from the Sistine Chapel ceiling has been recreated for an exhibit.
You’ll find some of the most famous pieces of his work at the new Mountain Mile attraction
The frescoes are considered to be some of Michelangelo’s most impressive work that took him years to complete.
“I’ve been and at 60 feet in the air you look up and these are 12ft high, when I looked up you could see colors and make out that there’s people up there, but I wanted to know who are these people, who did Michelangelo and the Pope select to do these 33 frescos of,” said Sylvia Noland, with Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel The Exhibition.
You’ll find out those details when you visit the new Pigeon Forge attraction. You’ll download an app that gives you even more information about each piece.
“So when you come in here and look at this you’ll think, how could somebody think they’re not an artist? This is one of the greatest artistic achievements in history. You’re looking at things that are over 500 years old,” she said.
