Perfect Timing: Good News As Michigan Wolverines Coach Makes An Unexpected Announcement That Will Booster The Team

Emerging 2026 DL Trashawn Ruffin truly blessed landing U-M offer, plans game day visit

On Monday, Michigan entered the mix for an emerging prospect in Mount Olive (NC) North Duplin 2026 defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin.

 

Defensive line coach Lou Esposito extended the offer.

“Coach Espo had texted me out of the blue and asked me am I free for a call, so I jumped on it quick and he called me and was asking me some questions about my life and my family,” Ruffin told The Michigan Insider. “He then asked me if I would ever be interested in playing at the University Of Michigan and of course I said yes and after that he offered me. I was VERY amazed by that offer. I mean it’s a team that literally won the national championship last year. How could you not be amazed by an offer from Michigan? I’m truly blessed and humbled about it!

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — For the third straight week, the Michigan football team underwhelmed inside Michigan Stadium Saturday, as the Wolverines sputtered offensively, lapsed late defensively and showed flaws throughout en route to a 28-18 win over Arkansas State.

The game wasn’t as close as that score suggests — it was 28-3 with less than six minutes to go in the game — and there were several positive takeaways. But Michigan looked far from a finished product in its final non-conference game, and its mistakes and deficiencies against the Red Wolves are ominous with No. 11 USC coming to town next.
