Angel Reese has achieved the most lucrative honour in the history of WNBA.

The Chicago Sky’s standout rookie Angel Reese will have to end her first year in the WNBA earlier than she intended. In a video shared on her TikTok, Reese revealed she will have to undergo wrist surgery that will rule her out for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Reese explained that she has a small fracture in her wrist that could get worse if she doesn’t take care of it.

Basically, the doctors told me that I could either not get surgery or have surgery. The risk of not having surgery — I could literally have arthritis at 22 years old. That wasn’t an option,” she said in the video.

According to Reese, the injury could end up preventing her from playing basketball in the future.

“Long term, I literally could have not played anymore because this is a very hard place to heal because the blood flow is little to none,” she shared while adding that she will have a cast on her hand for six weeks.

A star at LSU, Angel Reese made quite an impact in the pros after being selected seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA draft. She set a number of records, including the most consecutive double-doubles and most rebounds in a single season, with 446 boards.

Reese ends her rookie campaign averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds, with the latter being another WNBA record.
