DONE DEAL: Penn State Nittany Lions Acquire $554,052,000 ‘Big Fish’ QB In A Blockbuster Long Term Deal
There’s a big one, folks.
Four-star class of 2025 wide receiver Matthew Outten, of I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, committed to Penn State Monday afternoon.
He flipped from Virginia Tech, whose head coach is longtime Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry. Outten originally committed to the Hokie on July 1, when the Nittany Lions were a finalist alongside Maryland and Syracuse.
According to the 247Sports composite, Outten is the ninth-best prospect in Virginia, a state Penn State has dominated in recent years. He made an official visit to Happy Valley on June 7 this summer after three prior unofficial visits.
Outten is a bit of a bigger-bodied receiver at 6-foot and 200 pounds. He is the second player to join Penn State’s 2025 class in “flip season,” joining talented four-star linebacker and St. Joseph’s standout Cameron Smith. Smith was committed to Duke and fellow former Penn State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.
Outten is also the fourth receiver to commit in the 2025 class. New York’s Lyrick Samuel, Maryland’s Jeff Exinor and Florida’s Koby Howard round out the group.
Now holding 24 players, Penn State’s 2025 class is ranked 14th in the nation. It is fourth in the Big Ten behind Ohio State, Oregon and Michigan.
