Done Deal: Reading FC Finally Acquire €580,000 ‘EFL ‘Big Fish’ From Top EPL Side
‘He can be very important for us’: Ruben Selles speaks on new Reading FC signing
Reading FC manager Ruben Selles was delighted with his side after they ended Charlton Athletic’s perfect start to the season.
The Royals ended Charlton’s 100% start to the season with a stunner from Charlie Savage and a goal from Sam Smith.
The win lifts Reading up to 8th position heading into the first international break of the campaign.
“It was a completely different game from the one against Wigan,” said Selles.
“We adapted well and started fast. Almost the entire first-half we dominated and kept them in their half except from the the last action of the half, there was a couple of mistakes in that action and that’s why we have Joel (Pereira), he saved us.
“The second-half we started slower and they got more momentum. We managed to stay strong and then scored, scored another one and then closed the game. I’m very proud of the work and togetherness they are putting together every time they are playing on training.”
Speaking on Reading’s new loan signing Chem Campbell, Selles continued: “We tried to push some things internally and externally. Finally we got the possibility yesterday around 6 or 7 that the EFL authorised us to have a loan.
“Chem was our first option, a player that is very good in one v one situations, very dynamic and can give us freshness. It’s a different profile to what we’ve already got and he has experience in League One with his loans to Wycombe and Charlton.
“He’s a very good character, a competitive character. We need help and he can be very important for us.
