So sad 4 NASCAR drivers confirmed dead and others injured
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Called by some the “Babe Ruth of stock car racing,” Curtis Turner was among the fastest and most colorful competitors in the early years of NASCAR premier series racing.
Turner was born in Floyd County, and his father was into the moonshine business and Curtis helped his father deliver moonshine to the customers.
Curtis had to sometimes outrun the law, and therefore developed his driving talents.
Now Floyd, Patrick, and Franklin County officials are joining forces to host a special birthday celebration of Curtis Turner, which will also launch a new initiative called “Mountain Spirit: Virginia’s Moonshine Heritage Trail.”
