Good News: Edmonton Oilers Makes New Changes In Team Squad

Thursday LNN: Changes in Edmonton, Habs Improve and More

Welcome back for a Thursday edition of Links, News, and Notes. Surprisingly enough, there’s been some developments in the hockey world:

  • The St Louis Blues spiced up the off season when they decided to offer sheet Edmonton Oilers’ Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. The Oilers ultimately were not prepared to pay up and have decided not to match the offer sheets. While the decision leaves Oilers a little thin on the blue line, it does give them more cap flexibility to sign more valuable players like Leon Draisaitl.
  • Speaking of the Oilers, they have shockingly decided to move on from Cody Ceci. The Oilers traded their third-round pick and defenceman Ceci to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenceman Ty Emberson.
  • One time that has been generally quiet lately has been the Montreal Canadiens. They did however make a splash this week that could end up shaking up their prospects for next season. The Habs acquired sniper Patrik Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets for defenseman Jordan Harris.
  • Top goaltending prospects are hard to come by but the Nashville Predators may be able to offer one to the right bidder. It is being reported that the coveted 2020 pick Yaroslav Askarov would like a change of scenery. It will be interesting to see what kind of interest he attracts especially since he is very clear that he wants his next job to be in the NHL.
  • Manon Rheaume’s legend may live on in the NHL with her youngest son, Dakoda Rheaume-Mullen, gearing up to hopefully be able to make it into the big leagues. The 17-year old is set to join the Michigan Wolverines of the NCAA and could have a change of being a pick up in the early rounds of the draft.
  • John Tortorella and David Quinn will be joining Team USA for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off.
