NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) -The family of Tennessee State University football player Chazan Page threw the first pitch at the Nashville sounds game tonight.
“I’m pretty sure he’s up there smiling right now at all of us,” Rico Page said about Chazan.
Page, who was 20, was killed in a hit and run crash in east Nashville back in April on Gallatin Pike.
“My first thought was to make sure my family’s okay and his teammates were fine I went from a dad who just lost his son to council the football players,” Rico said.
Four months after his son’s death, those players along with family and friends took over the First Horizon Park field at a Nashville Sounds game to honor Chazan.
“I know he’s smiling, that’s the thing he would also do is smile,” Rico said.
Chazan’s brother started the game off by throwing the first pitch and accepting an honorary Jersey with his brother’s name and football number stitch onto it.
“It was amazing, it was amazing seeing him through the first pitch because I know he’s been going through a lot, I know his brother would want him to be strong for him,” Rico said.
