Good News: Wrexham set to introduce a new face ahead of today’s game.

Wrexham are back in action on Sunday afternoon as Phil Parkinson takes his side to face Bolton Wanderers with a new striker still proving elusive.

Wrexham started the League One campaign in style last week.

Phil Parkinson watched on as Wrexham beat Wycombe Wanderers 3-2 at the STōK Cae Rasa, kicking off the new season with a win.

Wrexham came a little unstuck in the Carabao Cup though, losing 4-2 away at Championship side Sheffield United.

Both sides made a host of changes and Wrexham won’t be too disheartened ahead of Sunday’s trip to face Bolton Wanderers.

This trip sees Parkinson face off against his former club and Wrexham fans may have hoped to see a new face brought in ahead of the game.

Wrexham receive Will Lankshear blow

Wrexham have made a habit of Friday signings.

Dan Scarr joined on Friday the 2nd of August before Ollie Rathbone came in from Rotherham United on Friday the 9th of August.

A third signing was in mind for Wrexham fans with supporters desperate to see another striker arrive.

That hasn’t been done in time to face Bolton though, and Wrexham may even find that one target is slipping away.

Reports in July suggested that Wrexham had enquired into signing Will Lankshear on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Any deal was delayed by Lankshear heading on a pre-season tour with Tottenham and Spurs may not choose to let him leave at all.

Reporter George Sessions now claims that Tottenham are planning to keep Lankshear rather than loan him out.

The plan is for Lankshear to stick around and support Tottenham’s attacking options even after the signing of striker Dominic Solanke.

Ange Postecoglou appears to have been impressed and Wrexham may now need to move on and look elsewhere for a new striker.

There have been so many forwards linked with Wrexham in recent times but some have slipped through the net.

John McAtee was a Wrexham target but he instead joined Bolton Wanderers – meaning he could line up against Wrexham.

Kieran Bowie also emerged as a Wrexham target but the Scot has instead moved to Hibernian.

Sheffield Wednesday duo Michael Smith and Bailey Cadamarteri are on the Wrexham radar too as Parkinson chases attacking additions.

Lankshear may not make the move after all but a new forward should remain a priority as the summer transfer window enters its final stages.
