Vegas Golden Knights announce first fan engagement trip to Mexico.
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Vegas Golden Knights are heading south for the first time.
The team on Friday announced “LosVGK en México,” a series of hockey clinics and fan activations planned for Mexico City, Metepec and Monterrey, Mexico.
Team officials will work with theMexican Ice Hockey Federation, Ice Hockey Workshops, and Fundación Dr. Sonrisas for the trip, which is planned for Sept. 6-10.
It’s part of the team’s effort to expand its outreach to the Hispanic and Latin American fanbase.
“Since we launched the LosVGK brand last fall we have thought about ways to extend its reach beyond Southern Nevada, and there is no better way to celebrate the sport than to get sticks in boys’ and girls’ hands,” Benjamin Thomas, director of Latino Marketing and Outreach, said in a news release.
Metepec and Monterrey will host ball hockey and on-ice clinics during the trip. There will also be a Fan Fest with food trucks, live music and giveaways in Metepec on Sept. 8.
